Braille Signs
Braille signs communicate instructions and information to blind and near-blind members of the public. Signs that give directions to toilets, first aid, hearing loops, stairs, and entries & exits have a white image and text on a blue background, with braille text near the bottom of the sign.
Signs that label parts of a building are grey with black text, with braille underneath. Fire exit signs have white text on a red background with braille text at the bottom.
Braille signs comply with BCA 2011 Volume One, Section D3.6, of the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standard AS 1428.1. All buildings approved after 1 May 2011 must display either left hand or right-hand transfer.
